Where Art Meets Activism

We are a community-driven organization founded by José Carlos Mayorga in Berlin, blending activism and creativity to build a space for genuine artistic and cultural exchange.

How It Started

ARTivisten began with a simple idea: artists, activists, and experts supporting each other to bring creative projects to life. Migrant artists in particular often struggle to access Berlin’s rich creative potential — held back by language barriers and unfamiliar funding processes. What started as informal support for a handful of artists quickly grew into real projects, but without a legal structure, public funding stayed out of reach.

In 2020, that idea took legal shape when José Carlos Mayorga founded ARTivisten e.V., turning creative ideas into projects with meaning and a message.

Our Mission

We empower individuals through the power of art and creativity, with a focus on inclusion, diversity, and intercultural understanding. We build bridges between Berlin’s communities, giving artists a platform to showcase their work, share knowledge, and collaborate — backed by practical support like networking, event coordination, administrative help, and language assistance.
