The Migrant Sounds Ensemble is an inclusive and participatory music project founded by José Carlos Mayorga (Guatemala) under the musical direction of Mauricio Nader (Chile). The goal of this project, among others, is to promote participation and inclusion of people with and without migration and refugee experience (regardless of age, origin, sexual orientation and world views) through making music together.
This takes place in different musical formats such as the beginning of this year with our jam sessions “Migrant Sounds”, different music workshops where we explore together for example the history of the guitar in Latin America, the connection between jazz & blues with slavery, the similarities of Andalusian music and Arabic rhythms, etc.
